Monsoon Memories

It’s raining again.
I just put the clothes away.
I’m sitting here in this corner of mine.
Close to nothing, and away from it all.
It’s so silent. Peaceful.
And yet there is something missing.
Something.
I can see the rain softly speaking to me.
It’s been so long since someone spoke to me.
No, not the regular stuff. They don’t matter.
Fake smiles. Artificial laughter. My life.
What is it now.
People talking. More promises.
The rain lashes down. Forcing me to remember.
And then there was you.
I tried to forget.
I moved on.
Time was supposed to heal me.
It never really does.
Do you remember?
Me…those times… that song.
The rain.
I run my fingers down my face…softly..
Just the way you used to.
My skin tingles.
It doesn’t go away you know.
The memories.
They don’t die.
I don’t know if I love you still.
I don’t know if I even want you back.
I just know that it’s this damn rain
It’s pulling my body to you.
Like we did that day.

Thanks a lot gorgeous lady, for your "counter questions" to some of my questions asked to you on IBN CHAT

I've read LMVAODI, quite an interesting book and have been a great companion to me while travelling in metro. Good work! will try to get hold on your next book asap!

Writing about women, sex and relationship is quite tough! It's hard to marinate yourself into society, specially when You write erotic fiction, people consider you to be of pervert mind, men approach you to drag you into bed. Being an erotica writer.
how did you manage?
Had you to struggle too?
Were you being demoralized by your environment? how did you fight and managed to publish your book? what/who motivated you?

# no counter question this time please! :)

THIS IN ANSWER:

Thanks a lot gorgeous lady, ( it works when you say this any lady. you are no exception)

for your "counter questions" to some of my questions asked to you on IBN CHAT ( indirectly saying, you are intelligent, works again
)

I've read LMVAODI,( that automatic eligibility for comment approval)

quite an interesting book and have been a great companion to me while travelling in metro. Good work! will try to get hold on your next book asap! ( a lot of pampering, now start to think of Italy again, ok not Italy but Barista to begin with)

Writing about women, sex and relationship is quite tough!
( hell now days every next person is writing that only, but again, works for you as fake pampering)

It's hard to marinate yourself into society, specially when You write erotic fiction, people consider you to be of pervert mind, men approach you to drag you into bed. Being an erotica writer.

how did you manage? ( conversation kick off?)

Had you to struggle too? ( definitely now....if not earlier)

Were you being demoralized by your environment? ( this jack ass even ustand that word demoralize, I am sure his wife gonna be a doormat whole life)

how did you fight and managed to publish your book? what/who motivated you?

( Alas! last attempt)

THIS WORKED. but a simple answer to a simple question. nahhh... how could you do that? its too much to do for a writer... err.. sorry ... celebrity writer like you..

anyway,

keep smiling, it matters.

• Excerpts from Madhuri's chat with readers on Nov 16, 2012

Mistakes happen in the book around love and sex. They themselves are not mistakes in life.
• This is the latest book. It's based on Kaveri a woman in her 30s who wants to find love and gets into all sorts of crazy adventures. It's a fun book and shows a different side to Bollywood, relationships and friends.
• I think everyone goes through life alone. If they find love, they feel complete. This book shows a life of a person you will be able to connect with. And maybe even learn from :)
• This book is all about patience, understanding and respect :)
• We lead with our hearts. And that's ok. Just know when not to have it broken
• As a society demands, supply is given. Many people don't want to read stories of distant lands and people they can't connect to. Indian stories of intrigue, passion and identifiable characters are popular.

• It took about 5 months to finish writing the book. My advice would be to be honest to the writing. Write what you feel and let the characters grow. Don’t bring in personal prejudices and don't think about the fate of the book. Only then can you be proud of it.
• Because you can't judge all books by their covers, you need to read an author to see if you like his style of writing. This book will make you laugh, philosophies, take away great lines and enjoy the story. if you like a book like that - pick it up. :)
• Both. Popular appeal gets the book sold and I make some money. Critical appreciations because people understand that I’m a good writer and put in a lot of blood sweat and tears into it.

• Love can lead to sex. And sex may lead to love.
• Sex can't be a mistake if you love the person.
• All relationships that have love as the core are fantastic. Everything else can be sorted out.
• It's not an autobiography. It's good to read something that is personal and intense. I write what I feel, what I see and what I think. And I want to combine it all for a good story that's entertaining. Wouldn't you want to buy a book like that?

• You write erotic fiction, people consider you to be of pervert mind, men approach you to drag you into bed. Being an erotica writer. - I don't write erotic fiction. I write a story that may have a sex scene between characters and love stories should have that as a natural progression.
how did you manage? - Quite well thank you.
Had you to struggle too? - Of course. Life is a struggle but we persevere.
Were you being demoralized by your environment? Not at all. I am a free thinker. I get many brickbats all the time. I do what my heart says always.
how did you fight and managed to publish your book? Penguin is a great publishing house and I'm fortunate they decided to publish me. I have a fantastic editor and a fab team that helps me.
what/who motivated you? A friend who was 30 yrs old an a virgin gave me the basis of the idea. After that pure imagination and an itch to write the story motivated me :)

• As an individual do you stick to one thing all your life? I enjoyed climbing trees when I was young and playing with Barbies. I outgrew it. You have to constantly challenge yourself. I won a NATIONAL AWARD. I wanted to do more with my life. I love writing. Thank God I can claim to be an author now thanks to PenguinBooks India I wouldn't have it any other way.
• This book is an amalgamation of many friends and what I've observed over the years. It may be inspired from true stories but it's a piece of fiction in the end.
• If I was given a chance I would love to collaborate with other authors. They need to want to work with me too ;)

Amit said...

• Love and Sex are beautiful things. But when you have sex with your best friend's boyfriend isn't it a mistake? You must read the book to gauge how sometimes life can take the most beautiful things, flip it over and then show you a new perspective and make you grow!
• Love in the book is what Kaveri thinks it should be - carefree, giving you security, completing you, etc. She goes to realize that you don't need someone to complete you. You need to just complement each other to grow. That's love.

Amit said...

• Yes I do think reading as a habit seems to be dying. Many people would rather spend their money on watching a film that's double the price of a book. Also many youngsters have twitter and fb that interact in only 140 characters. Reading a full-fledged book requires patience. I'm hoping that with my books they will come abck to reading and enjoying good stories and still finding entertainment in them.
• Anything that makes you feel attracted to someone else for longer than a second and you act on it is infidelity. Porn doesn't count ;)

Amit said...

• Then you will be doing all of us great injustice. I won't make my 15 rupees of each copy and Penguin will eventually have to shut down and no books will be published if that's the way the industry goes. Thanks.
• You have to write for yourself first. Then it can be true. Don't worry about an audience.
• Every author is different. I like to interact with people and chat about many things. i like hearing feedback about my book so i love this question and answer session and I hope we can do it on a regular basis. Other authors might not want to interact or hear feedback. To each their own.
• Sad to hear you say that. You didn't read the blurb, you haven't seen any of my tweets, you haven't read my blog and yet you've made up your mind you won't buy the book because you were unsatisfied with an answer? Tragic. Pl do buy Sidin's book. It's fab!
• What do you mean compromise? If you didn't want to make something work in the beginning that's fine. And if you choose to make it work second time around that's fantastic. Love can't be a compromise!
